Water Supplies Department Gathering Ground
Known as "Gathering Grounds" these areas along the road feed to reservoirs and are an important part of the water supply to Hong Kong. Although the supply is now largely from the mainland of China the individual reservoirs around Hong Kong are still maintained and used.
It is an offence against the law to do anything that might pollute the water going into the public water supplies.

About this image: This image captures an official bilingual signboard from the Hong Kong Water Supplies Department, installed on Victoria Peak, designating a "Gathering Ground" for water collection amid the area's natural reservoirs and hiking trails. The weathered metal plaque, secured with bolts, provides detailed Chinese instructions on water catchment regulations, reflecting Hong Kong's efficient urban water management integrated into its iconic hilly landscapes. Surrounding the sign, the Peak's lush greenery and elevated views underscore its role as both a tourist hotspot and vital infrastructure site.
