Hong Kong Events in January 2027
Seven events are dated inside January 2027, and one of them starts on the Peak: the 34th Green Power Hike sets off from outside Peak Galleria on Saturday 30 January. The rest of the month is the New Year's Day race meeting and youth tournament, the expo that finishes on 4 January, the marathon down Nathan Road, the 100 km HK100 out of Sai Kung, and the financial forum in Wan Chai. The Lunar New Year fairs also open on 31 January, but they are covered on the February 2027 page, because six of their seven nights fall there. Each row below gives the date, the venue, what it costs, and whether it is worth timing a Peak visit around.
🗓️ January 2027 events, in date order
Lucky Start raceday
📅 Friday 1 January 2027, Day Race
📍 Sha Tin Racecourse, 6001 Tai Po Road, Sha Tin
🎟️ Tickets: Public Enclosure HK$10. Entry is free for visitors to Hong Kong aged 18 or over holding a valid travel document or passport. The Members' Enclosure is HK$400 rather than the regular HK$300, because the Club lists Lucky Start among its Major Racedays.
The first fixture of the Hong Kong racing year, and a public holiday, so the public enclosure fills earlier than at a regular meeting.
🧭 From the Peak: not on the Peak and not on Hong Kong Island. Sha Tin is a separate trip across the harbour, so give the afternoon to it rather than squeezing it around a Peak visit.

New Year's Day Youth Tournament 2027
📅 Friday 1 January 2027
📍 Hong Kong Football Club
🎟️ Tickets: none. No spectator ticket and no price is published; entry is not offered to the public, and players register interest for the U14 to U19 squads.
The 2027 edition is the tournament's 50th anniversary. It runs on the same day as the racing at Sha Tin, at the other end of the harbour.
🧭 From the Peak: not on the Peak. This is a club tournament with no public entry, so there is nothing to build a day around; it is worth knowing about because it is the other fixture on Hong Kong Island on 1 January.

60th Hong Kong Brands and Products Expo
📅 1–4 January 2027, the last four days of a run that opened on 12 December 2026 and closes on 4 January
📍 Victoria Park, Causeway Bay
🎟️ Tickets: HK$10. Free for children under 1 metre, for senior citizens aged 65 or over and for persons with disabilities, and free for everyone from 19:00 onwards — except on the last day, 4 January. Hours are 11:00–21:00 until 3 January and 11:00–20:00 on 4 January.
Twenty-four days of stalls in the park, and the January portion is the closing stretch: the last day is the short one, and the only day the evening free-entry rule does not apply.
🧭 From the Peak: on Hong Kong Island but not on the Peak — a separate trip down to Causeway Bay. It is a ground-level market you walk through, so there is nothing to see of it from the hill.

Standard Chartered Hong Kong Marathon 2027
📅 Sunday 17 January 2027. The marathon waves start at 06:00 (Marathon Challenge), 06:25 (Marathon Run 1) and 06:50 (Marathon Run 2)
📍 Nathan Road, Tsim Sha Tsui, to Victoria Park, Hong Kong
🎟️ Tickets: there is no spectator ticket and no spectator price. The entry fee is HK$600 for local participants and USD 90 for non-local participants, and that is a race entry, not a seat.
The course starts in Kowloon and finishes at Victoria Park. The three start times above are the organiser's published schedule, so the race is under way well before the city's normal morning traffic.
🧭 From the Peak: the course does not touch the Peak. Nothing had been published about the Peak Tram, Peak Road or the Peak being affected on race morning when this page was written, so if a Peak visit that morning depends on the tram, check the tram's service notices first rather than assuming.

Hong Kong 100 Ultra Marathon 2027
📅 21–24 January 2027: The Third, 34 km, Thursday 21 January; The Half, 53 km, Friday 22 January; HK100, 100 km, Saturday 23 January; The Grand Sam, 183 km, across all four days
📍 The HK100 starts at Pak Tam Chung on the Sai Kung peninsula and finishes after the descent of Tai Mo Shan, Hong Kong's highest peak at 957 m
🎟️ Tickets: no entry fee is published, and no start times are published for any of the four races.
Four races over four days, chained by the 183 km Grand Sam, which covers all of them.
🧭 From the Peak: a separate trip, and not to the Peak — this is the Sai Kung peninsula and the New Territories. No spectator arrangement is published either, so it is one to follow rather than attend.

Asian Financial Forum 2027 (20th edition)
📅 26–27 January 2027
📍 Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, Wan Chai
🎟️ Tickets: registration only. No public admission price is published, and no session times are published.
The twentieth edition of the government and HKTDC forum, and the one January date on this page that is a working event rather than a public one.
🧭 From the Peak: on Hong Kong Island, in Wan Chai — a separate trip, and with no public admission there is no walk-up entry to build into a Peak day.

34th Green Power Hike
📅 Saturday 30 January 2027. Green Power's kick-off times: 50 km at 07:30, 10 km at 09:15, 25 km at 10:30
📍 The Peak, outside Peak Galleria (50 km and 10 km starts); Tai Tam Country Park Barbecue Area 2 (25 km start); both finish at Big Wave Bay except the 10 km, which finishes at Aberdeen Country Park
🎟️ Tickets: no entry fee is published, and no spectator information is published — there is a separate donation page rather than a price on the event page. Quota 3,000.
Three routes on the Hong Kong Trail: 50 km from the Peak to Big Wave Bay with a 13-hour limit, 25 km from Tai Tam to Big Wave Bay with an 8-hour limit, and a new 10 km from the Peak to Aberdeen Country Park with a 4-hour limit.
🧭 From the Peak: on the Peak, and the best date in January to time a visit around — two of the three routes start outside Peak Galleria, at 07:30 and 09:15. Expect the forecourt to be busy from early morning; come up later in the day if the view is the point and the race is not.

Lunar New Year fairs open on 31 January
Hong Kong's Lunar New Year fairs open on Sunday 31 January 2027 at 14 sites, the biggest at Victoria Park in Causeway Bay, and run for seven days — through the night of 5 February and into the early hours of 6 February, which is Lunar New Year's Day. The Food and Environmental Hygiene Department is offering 939 wet-goods stalls, 599 dry-goods stalls and 26 fast-food stalls across the sites. No admission price is published for the fairs, and the FEHD publishes no public opening or closing times either. The February page carries the fairs as a row, since six of the seven nights fall in that month: February 2027 events in Hong Kong.
Planning January around a Peak visit
If the Peak itself is the point of the day, January has one date that is on it: the Green Power Hike on 30 January, when the 50 km and 10 km routes start outside Peak Galleria at 07:30 and 09:15 on Green Power's own schedule. Everything else needs its own trip — Sha Tin for the racing on 1 January, Causeway Bay for the expo until 4 January and then for the fairs from 31 January, Nathan Road and Victoria Park for the marathon on 17 January, Sai Kung and the New Territories for the HK100, and Wan Chai for the financial forum.
On the Peak itself, two things are there whatever you come up for. The free HSBC Life Illuminations show is projected onto the Peak Tower every evening at 19:30, 20:30 and 21:30, about ten minutes a session, with the best view from Peak Road Garden outside the tower — check it is running on the day, as the operator publishes no season dates. And the Peak Tram's hours for the day you are going are on opening hours on the Peak; if the queue at the lower terminus is the problem, the tram, the bus, a taxi and the walk compared sets out the alternatives.
