Mountain Lodge Has Great Views Of Hong Kong Island
There are some great views over Kowloon and the islands of Lantau and Lamma from the viewing platforms around Mountain Lodge and Victoria Peak Gardens. This hidden gem is far less touristy than the peak and a great place to enjoy a relaxing day out in Hong Kong.
Victoria Peak Gardens used to be the grounds of Mountain Lodge, which was the former Governor of Hong Kong's summer house. Mountain Lodge was demolished after World War II due to the extensive damage caused by Japanese bombing of Hong Kong Island. The gardens, however, remain for the public to enjoy and are one of Hong Kong's few green parks.
Enjoyed by friends, couples, families and even wedding photographers the peak gardens were renovated in 2010 and are now a collection of well-kept lawns connected by stone steps. The lawns also have picnic benches and Victorian style gazebos that provide welcoming shelter from the sun on those hot days!
